I am a surgeon and researcher passionate about leveraging AI to improve health outcomes at scale.
I am motivated by the belief that technology should not only make medicine smarter but also fairer, ensuring that every decision has the best possible chance to improve patient care.
Bridging the gap between clinical practice and machine learning, I am currently working with large-scale datasets and high-performance computers to develop computer vision models that extract objective data from surgical photographs. By transforming subjective visual expert opinions into objective metrics, these tools aim to support clinicians in making safer, more consistent utilisation decisions and to help maximise the number of donor organs transplanted.
This work has been supported by the NIHR and Royal College of Surgeons of England. My PhD at Newcastle University, supervised and mentored by Professor Colin Wilson, Professor Neil Sheerin, Professor John Dark, and Professor Boguslaw Obara, focuses on clinically grounded AI evaluation and real-world workflow integration.
